SkateMap ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SkateMap mobile application and website at getskatemap.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information when you use the Service.

- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and any profile or cover photo you upload.
- User-Generated Content: We collect and store the skate spots, tricks, posts, comments, reviews, photos, and social media links you choose to share through the Service.
- Camera & Photos: We need camera access so you can take photos in the app if you so choose to do so. We need access to your photo library to let you upload skate spot, trick, and post images. We do not access, store, or process video files; we use external links for video content.
- Location Data: We use your location to center the map on your current area, making it easier to discover nearby skate spots and businesses. With your permission, we also attach geographic coordinates to the photos you upload.
- Messages: We collect the content of messages you send through our chat and direct messaging features.
- Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including device identifiers, log data, and analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including displaying spots, tricks, and parks on an interactive map.
- To allow you to create, share, and discover skate spots and tricks within the community.
- To facilitate communication between users through chat and direct messaging.
- To send notifications about nearby spots, tricks, and activity relevant to your account.
- To process payments for business advertising and superchat features via Stripe.
- To monitor and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms.
3. Sharing of Your Information
We share your information in the following ways:
- Public Content: Your profile, submitted spots, tricks, posts, comments, and reviews are visible to other SkateMap users. You can mark spots as "Secret" to keep them off the public map.
- Service Providers: We use third-party services such as Stripe (payments), cloud hosting, and analytics providers that help us operate the Service.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
4. Location Data
We use your location to center the map on your current area, making it easier to discover nearby skate spots and businesses. We also use location data to attach geographic coordinates to the photos you upload. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings. Note that disabling location services will limit map and photo-pinning functionality.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and user-generated content for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated content at any time through the app's settings.
6. Your Rights
- Access & Update: You can view and update your profile information at any time.
- Delete Content: You can delete spots, tricks, posts, and photos you have created.
- Secret Spots: You can mark spots as "Secret" to keep them private and off the public map.
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account through the app, which removes your profile and personal data.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services (such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, and affiliate partners). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
